Life Insurance Awareness Month is a great opportunity to educate your friends and family on the importance of life insurance. Last year, we asked the Trustmark team “What does life insurance mean to you?” to help communicate its importance. There was one overarching theme amongst Trustmark employees: protect the next generation of loved ones from financial distress.

So, to celebrate Life Insurance Awareness Month this year, we were wondering – do younger generations know what life insurance is? Check out what the next generation had to say:

The next generation might not know EXACTLY what life insurance is, who should have it, or how much it costs,  but one thing is certain – despite their age, they know it’s a good idea and know it’s important!

Yet, despite younger generations recognizing life insurance as a good idea, 101 million Americans, both those who have insurance and those who don’t own any coverage, say they need more life insurance coverage. There are many reasons for this, but some of the most common include thinking it's too expensive, having other financial priorities, or because they don’t know how much it is or what type to get1.

That’s why this Life Insurance Awareness Month – in addition to asking the next generation about life insurance – we’ve also developed an infographic to help put the need for life insurance into perspective.

Be sure to spread the word on your social media platforms to help dispel some of life insurance's most common myths, and why the next generation responds, "Heck yeah, it is!" when asked if having life insurance is a good idea.
