You’ve overcome barriers to ensure your employees keep working. Now discover how to overcome the barriers to keep them engaged, through open enrollment and beyond.

Numbers 1 to 5 in order in steps

Companies are clearly investing in their employee benefit plans. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, private industry employers spent an average of $34.72 per hour worked for total employee compensation in December 2019. Of that, benefits costs averaged $10.37, or nearly 30 percent of total compensation.

But it might not be as clear how much value these companies, let alone their employees, are getting out of them, due to disengaged employees.  And it’s costing them dearly – in high claims and low participation, lost productivity, and missed recruitment, retention, and growth opportunities.

Barriers on the road to employee engagement
The road to employee engagement is full of barriers. These include behavioral barriers that stem from an employee’s feelings and beliefs and environmental barriers that stem from structural aspects ingrained in an organization. Employees are often making important healthcare decisions without proper information or context, negatively impacting their own wellbeing and employer bottom line.

Fortunately, you, as employee benefit decision makers, are in a position to help. And with open enrollment upon us, there’s no time like the present.
