For the first time, Trustmark has earned recognition from Crain’s Chicago Business in the publication’s annual Best Places to Work in Chicago list.

The award is based on results from an employer assessment and an anonymous, random survey issued to Chicago-area associates. Crain’s created the criteria for the survey and award in partnership with Workforce Research Group.

“Our associates are what make Trustmark such a special place to work,” said Kevin Slawin, CEO. “My leadership team and I see this each day, but it is rewarding to receive additional, external validation for our caring and inclusive culture. This is a great time to be a Trustmark associate and to help us continue on our growth trajectory.”

Earlier this year, Newsweek selected Trustmark as one of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity. Also, Trustmark earned recognition from the Chicago Tribune as a Top Workplace for the fourth consecutive year.

In the Crain’s survey, Trustmark generated high engagement and favorability in all categories. The five highest were:

  • Relationship with Manager
  • Diversity and Inclusion
  • Core Employee Experience
  • Your Job
  • Communication/Workplace Culture

More than nine out of 10 associates would endorse Trustmark as an employer and 97 percent of associates said they understood how their work impacts organization success. Additionally, more than nine out of 10 associates have confidence in Trustmark’s long-term direction.

“This level of engagement and commitment speaks to the way our associates support each other – and our customers – each day,” Slawin said. “We have a great team in place to help Trustmark capitalize on opportunities and advance our strategies.”

Kristin Zelkowitz, SVP, Chief Human Resources Officer, noted that Trustmark excelled in every question related to how associates relate to their manager. She was also pleased to see overwhelming agreement that Trumark has taken real action to create an inclusive culture.

“Stronger relationships are forged when associates report that they feel respected by their manager and that managers listens to their suggestions,” she said. “These are the types of relationships that lead to associates building their career here and helping Trustmark continue to evolve to meet customer needs. Our inclusive culture and associate value proposition continue to thrive.”
