Back, neck and joint pain (also called musculoskeletal or “MSK” pain) can interfere with everyday life, whether it starts with an injury, work strain or builds up over time.
Why Back, Neck and Joint Pain Matter
In the U.S., nearly 1 in 4 adults experienced chronic pain and 8.5% of adults experienced high-impact chronic pain, defined as pain that frequently limits life or work activities, according to a CDC estimate.1
The World Health Organization notes that low back pain is the single leading cause of disability worldwide.2
The good news: many episodes of back, neck and joint pain improve with early, guided, conservative care. Virtual MSK care can be a convenient first step, especially when getting to in-person visits is difficult.
For members, that can mean help from home with a care plan built around daily life and work demands. For employers, improving access to MSK support can help reduce the disruption that pain often creates. If you’re reading this through your employer or health plan, check your benefit materials to see whether virtual MSK care is included.

What to Expect from Virtual Musculoskeletal Care from Vori Health
When pain gets in the way, it is not always clear where to start. Virtual musculoskeletal (MSK) care, including telehealth physical therapy and support from a specialty care team, can provide a clear, supported first step.
Vori Health is a nationwide specialty medical practice focused exclusively on treating back, neck and joint pain through virtual care. Care begins with a medical evaluation to understand where it hurts, how long pain has been present, and how it affects movement and daily life.
You are supported by a coordinated care team that includes physicians, physical therapists, and health coaches who specialize in musculoskeletal conditions. That team works together to build a personalized care plan and adjust it as you make progress.
As Jessica Landin, CEO of Vori Health, explains:
“Vori Health is more than virtual physical therapy. It’s a full care team in your corner. When you come to us, whether it’s a bad knee or a back that’s keeping you from playing with your kids or doing the things you love, our physicians, physical therapists and health coaches come together to build a plan that actually fits your life. The convenience of virtual care is just the beginning. The real difference is the people behind it.”
How Care Works
Virtual care does not mean hands-off care. It means receiving expert guidance in a more flexible way.
Care typically includes:
- A virtual intake visit with your care team, which includes a medical doctor, physical therapist, health coach and registered dietitian
- Medical evaluation and diagnosis
- A personalized treatment plan delivered digitally
- Ongoing check-ins and support from clinicians as you progress
Visits take place through convenient virtual appointments, making it easier to fit care into your schedule and stay consistent over time.
Care Focused on Recovery, Not Escalation
Musculoskeletal pain often responds best to early, guided treatment. That is why care focuses on restoring movement, building strength and improving function over time.
Treatment plans may include:
- Guided physical therapy
- Movement and strengthening support
- Education on managing pain safely
- Non-opioid pain medication or imaging, if needed
By addressing pain early and supporting recovery, this approach can help avoid more invasive procedures, such as injections or surgery, when appropriate. Many patients experience improvements in comfort and mobility after just a few visits, helping them stay active and engaged in daily life.
When This Care Can Help
Virtual musculoskeletal care can support a wide range of needs, including:
- Recovery after a recent injury or accident
- Pain that keeps flaring up and setting you back
- Long-term pain that affects comfort, confidence or movement
Care can be helpful whether pain is new, occasional or something you have been managing for a long time. Starting earlier can make recovery feel more manageable and less disruptive.
A Care Experience that Feels Different
Many people are used to rushed appointments or feeling like there is not enough time to explain what is really going on. One of the most common things members share about Vori Health is feeling heard.
Care teams spend time listening, asking questions, and understanding how pain affects day-to-day life. Treatment plans are adjusted as progress is made, with support throughout the process.
That attention and continuity help care feel personal, not transactional.
Included Care, With One Coverage Note
Virtual musculoskeletal care through Vori Health is included with Trustmark major medical plan designs, helping remove barriers to getting started.
- For non-HDHP/CDHP plan designs, this service is available at no extra cost
- For HDHP/CDHP plan designs, services are subject to deductible and coinsurance
Coverage details can vary by plan, so reviewing plan information is always recommended.
Getting Back to Being You
Pain can cause small adjustments that add up over time. Care that is easy to access and built around your life can help change that.
Virtual musculoskeletal care through Vori Health brings together expert support, personalized treatment, and the flexibility of virtual visits. It is designed to help you manage pain, regain strength, and get back to doing the things you enjoy, without leaving home.
If pain has been something you have been working around, starting with a simple conversation about where it hurts can be a helpful first step.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does Vori Health virtual MSK care work?
Vori Health designs a treatment plan around you. Care begins with an initial virtual intake visit where your Care Team learns how pain affects your daily life, reviews your medical history, performs a physical exam, and discusses treatment options. If imaging or tests are needed, your Care Team can help coordinate those locally
What will my treatment plan look like?
Your treatment plan is based on your goals and needs. It includes physical therapy, medication adjustments, nutrition counseling, and healthy lifestyle coaching. Many patients meet virtually with their physical therapist about twice per week early in the plan and receive support from a personal health coach. Progress is reviewed regularly and plans are adjusted as needed.
Who is on my Care Team?
Your Care Team is personalized and may include board-certified specialty medical doctors, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, health coaches, and nutritionists.
What do I need for a telehealth physical therapy visit?
You only need a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and internet access. Technical support is available if needed.
How long will it take before I see results?
Each person’s experience is different. Some members begin to notice changes in as little as a few weeks. Your Care Team focuses on long term success and supports you throughout the process.
Can virtual MSK care help me avoid injections, opioids or surgery?
Many episodes of back, neck and joint pain improve with early, guided, conservative treatment (like movement-based therapy and coaching). Starting with an MSK-focused evaluation can help identify next steps and, when appropriate, may reduce the need to jump straight to higher intensity options. If your symptoms suggest imaging or a specialist evaluation is needed, your care team can help coordinate that.
What if I am already receiving care elsewhere?
Vori Health Care Teams often partner with other doctors and physical therapists to coordinate care and address any unresolved issues.
